In this blog, we’ll walk you through the process of BBQing a pork crown roast, from preparation to serving. Get ready to wow your guests with a show-stopping centerpiece that will taste just as incredible as it looks! WHAT IS A PORK CROWN ROAST? Believe me or not, but a pork crown roast is actually just a pork loin. It is a pork loin that has its bone still attached, also known as a bone-in pork loin. A pork loin is big muscle, the meat that runs the back of a pig. The bone-in pork loin is usually folded into a circle, with the ribs usually turned upward. It is a 12-14 bone pork loin that is frenched. Meaning the meat is cut from the bone.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED Grill or Oven (I used my Pit Boss Grills Navigator) Basting Brush Rotisserie (not needed, but I used one from Roto-Q 360)
INGREDIENTS
Pork Crown Roast (12-14 bones)
Pork Rub (1/4 Cup)
BBQ Sauce (1/2 Cup)
INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat your grill or oven to 350 degrees. Prepare your pork crown roast by Frenching a pork loin (or you can ask your butcher for a prepared pork crown roast) which is cutting 3" of the meat around the bones. Using your pork rub, spread evenly on all sides. Secure with butcher string either around your rotisserie basket. If you do not have a rotisserie, simply form a circle around the pork loin and secure with the butcher string. Place directly onto your grill or oven. You are looking for an internal temperature of 145 degrees in the thickest part of your pork crown roast. This took me 1 hour and 20 minutes.
Approximately 10 minutes before it is down, bast your BBQ sauce evenly. Baste every few minutes or until you get the glaze your looking for. Let your pork crown roast rest for a few minutes before serving and enjoy!
Grilling a pork crown roast is a showstopper that’s sure to impress your guests. It requires a little patience and attention, but the reward is well worth it. With tender, juicy pork, a smoky char from the BBQ, and a beautiful presentation, this dish is perfect for any special occasion. Whether you’re a BBQ pro or a beginner, this step-by-step guide should give you everything you need to create a truly memorable meal. Happy grilling!
